“I will not end without giving advice that is to dream the future city. It will come to pass, I warn you, that these giants of logic called practical men will blanket you with confusion and ridicule; but have the courage to ignore them. They believe that the transformation of a city is like a work of common masonry, to be performed stone by stone, beginning with the first; yet they forget, even though they ignore nothing, that the transformation of a city is a work of art, that is to say, an ensemble piece, and that in art, what is not imagined in advance and in full, is not realized."
My passion for ART,
It makes me think that the most authentic truth is the creativity I hold inside. The most murderous and terrible of passions that can inspire the masses is the passion for the impossible, and it is impossible to get anything done in these times. Well, the fault and little circulation of capital among public and private entities produce a great void in culture; a deceleration of imagination, sensibility, ethic and professionalism covers us every day, more and more, like a bad omen or storm, that the "artistic" man could not escape. This could be a novel, but I have no time. My time is running out, my energy is consumed and my aura fades...
Oh my lord,
In case there were no better times, I can still feel the wind rustling through the olive trees, and the light sweet vanilla scent of fresh jasmine, and the burgeoning in the small recesses of the garden.
I can sometimes still see that light, clear and intense color that penetrates to the bottom of the pond, where they could appreciate and differentiate the rapid and swift movement of those multicolored fish.
How I miss those walks, those long conversations filled with vitality and weight of life, the truth of the behavior, study of the universe and the meaning of man.
How much you did for them, introduce, extend and conserve that idea of changing the Empire.
~Letter to Adriano.
...and the worst is that a man like me, a simple " homme ", has dared to take control when, in reality, I do not control any of this miserable world that sweeps us from one side to the other, lifting and dropping us as if we went through life on a rollercoaster ride for the satisfaction and entertainment of the gods that toy with us for the pleasure and whim of their tastes. The total loss of control, absence of confidence, and the horror of public administration gives me a slight break to address the nature of the problem, or the moment with a bit of optimism. See what moves and is truly valued in the market, what really has value, talent and strength enough to inspire others. The crisis of humility, the invented crisis, is beginning to bear its first fruit , as if we were at the gates of spring, those hidden talents of great artistic value are blooming for the first time, hoping to be rescued and valued as people and artists, as true works of art. Now is the time, the hour has come to exploit so much talent and demonstrate the emphasis on quality in painting, sculpture, film... transmitting culture through the same conducting thread, the "design".
"Make your life a dream and your dream a reality"
It has led me to seek and find, sometimes by chance, and other times out of necessity, numerous artists with the need to be exploited and admired inside and outside the world of culture, where each one has specialized in a specific subject, as if it were a well-oiled machine where the major axes are related to culture, education, development and the wager on a future generation.
My great wager is in the "Future”, the future of our people, whether young or old, but artists; helping to maximize and project their main lines of action and reaction, as if it were a race to the bottom where you have to push your muscles to the limit in last section of the track, with the sole purpose of getting recognition and reward of each one.
In this way, we are showing the whole art world our past, our present, and our future, being capable of making and exporting our experiences and practices in the artistic culture of those who have had the least support and help, to those who have been hardest to start and solidify their artistic careers .
Converting it into to a cultural, social and economic phenomenon, an identity associated with the efforts and the work of yesterday and today; a rich and ample culture that extends across the width and length of our borders with the arrival of new generations , new technologies, and new media.
Yet my real challenge today is to develop an offer that constitutes the identity of the artist, with the goal of fighting and competing in a fierce, and sometimes inaccessible, market.
My offer can, without a doubt, be a reflection of reality, what we are, what we dream, what we want.
Well the key is to design what characterizes our environment, our culture, and the value by means of the cultivation of personal relationships with outsiders, relations between the people of the world through the universal connection with art.
Thus, becoming the difference between being adrift, or moving forward with a design path allows us to harness the winds and tides in the best way, within the strength and fragility of our ship.
The future that we create in this new era depends on the opportunities upon which we know how to capitalize. The opportunities have a time period that is finite, if we do not take advantage of them, they pass. Counting on the ability to innovate, understood as the capacity to develop new offerings from the dissatisfactions of the artists and the appropriation of the experiences and traditions, both belonging to other areas of work or culture, we have at our disposal ample possibilities to offer. However, we also need to develop an attitude that is complementary with the capacity to innovate. I speak of entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship is to be understood far more than the adaptation to develop business enterprises. When we talk about entrepreneurship, we mean the ability to improve, with innovations, an identity in the market or community that we choose to enter into or support. An identity supported by an offering or proposal, and by an
organization with the ambition to reproduce over time. The entrepreneurial ability operates in any human field, from business to politics, from art to science, from cultural to social.
To invent a distinct future for artists we must not stop innovating in proposals or ideas, for novel and feasible they may be, they require the commitment of to make a new identity instrumental, an offer or proposal that permits the entire community to convene, to solidify such an offer in promises that are met with impeccability.
Now I can say it is not my challenge but our collective challenge, for our opportunity is also collective. We have to take steps towards collaboration as the dominant relationship in between the various sectors of the art market, abandoning our inclination to confront and disqualify any initiative that does not feel like our own.
Enter into a new path that makes us wager on the risk, for the new, supporting those who are able to innovate without fear of error and failure.
My objective is to work on the furthering of the culture with these people, not for these people. A non-hierarchical, close communication would be the key for all of us to believe in the cultural capacities and artistic capabilities of the talents of the plastic arts.
My idea and my program is not afraid to look beyond. I provided the idea for the project in a true sense of sustainability, a process based on short, medium and long term wagers that march with works of art and artists’ charismatic energy.
“The fear of seeing and understanding the new is the absence of beauty and beauty is the absence of pain."
